Movies! Everybody loves them, including me. There are several different types of movies and several different categories within each type of movie. There are comedy movies, horror movies, romance movies, science-fiction movies, action movies, and documentry movies. Within comedy movies there are other categories such as romantic comedies, raunchy comedies, witty comedies, and cheesy comedies. Personally, I like the romantic comedies, such as Confessions of a Shopaholic, and the witty comedies, such a Sherlock Holmes. Comedies are usually movies that are meant to make someone laugh and have a light-hearted feel to them. Within horror movies there are categories such as thriller, mystery, real-life, and slasher. Horror movies really freak me out yet I still watch them. Some examples are, Shutter Island for thriller, The Uninvited for mystery, When a Stranger Calls for real-life, and A Nightmare on Elm Street (the 2010 version) for slasher. Horror movies are usually filled with suspense and murder, with some intrigue thrown in there, but above all they are drenched in stupidity. Stupidity as in, they split up, or they go towards the creepy noise, or they go to see what something is instead of runnin the other direction...but it does make for a good scare. Within romance movies...well there's pretty much just romance movies within romance movies. These movies are usually exteremely dramatic and have a lot of kissing scenes. An example would be The Notebook. Within science-fiction movies there's the cheesy and the awesome. For cheesy there would be Manos: the Hands of Fate and for awesome would be the new Star Trek movie.Usually science-fiction movies are about a made up world with strange adventures occur. There aren't really any sub-categories within action movies either. Some examples would be: Vantage Point, Die Hard, and I am Legend. Action movies are usually very loud, with a lot of explosions around every corner. Some action movies have a mystery to them, like Vantage Point, which make them 10 times better! Like action movies, there isn't really any sub-categories in documentary movies. Except for maybe, boring and interesting being the categories. I would say that these might be my least favorite to watch. In the boring categorie would definitely be March of the Penguins, I literally fell asleep during this movie, no joke. Then again, Morgan Freeman was narrating the movie and he does have a very soothing voice. Under the interesting category would be Food, Inc. and Super Size Me. Usually documentary movies are informational about a certain topic the director is passionate about. I feel that there is a very fine line between a boring documentary and an interesting documentary. All in all, there are many different and fantastic movies. A great movie is one that captivates it's audience and is generally enjoyed by all.
